Teresa Nunes

Ciao!

I’m Teresa and I’m an Art Teacher in Escola Superior de Educadores de Infância Maria Ulrich in Lisbon.

I finished my five year Communication Design degree in 2008 (FBAUL – Faculty of Fine Arts, Lisbon).
In my last year I applied for the Erasmus Programme which took me to the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, where I studied for six months and had my first big experience living out of my country. I also spent four months travelling around Australia.

I started teaching Art in ESEI Maria Ulrich in the beginning of 2010, right after some time working as a tour guide and exhibition assistant at Experimenta Design (Architecture and Design Biennale). By the end of 2010 I was invited to participate in this project. I’ve been responsible for the documentation (photos, blogs, brochures…). It’s been an amazing experience so far and I’m very happy to be part of this project.

I believe in the potential and power of this project. It creates a platform where students and teachers can share knowledge and experience, by working together, which ultimately leads to personal and professional growth.

We all recall and identify the places that were or are important for us… the places we learned to love, because they are part of our own story. The more we explore, know and relate to a place, the more we learn to respect and cherish it. Educating children towards this kind of relationship, with the city they live in, is educating for citizenship.

Our cities hold several pedagogical opportunities, that we must recognize and explore.

I’m looking forward to see you in Bologna!
